Newbuilding

For the construction of the ship Sailing Cargo relies on the competence of the Doehle Group. The cooperation with the Newbuilding Department, and the Technical Inspection as well as the expertise in Crewing and Training make the Project Sailing Cargo possible in the first place.

the future of shipping.

Optimized Hull Shape

The hull must be able to carry cargos while providing good sailing properties. The hull shape is designed for minimum drag with heel and side force. The waterline length is larger than most vessels of this DWT size in order to increase sailing speed and decrease motions in a seaway.

Extensive towing tank tests have been performed by Delft University of Technology, for optimizing the hull with regard to the fact that the ship will sail.

Flexible Dyna-Rig

The Dyna-Rig can be controlled electronically, electrically and hydraulically, and has flexible reefing variations. The Dyna-Rig features modern sail areas on giant rotating masts with no lashing, which form a united sail surface.

diesel-elektrischer Antrieb

Diesel-electric Engine

Four diesel generators provide the power for electric motor of the diesel-electric ship propulsion system.

Controllers ensure the precise coordination between generators and motor in all operating modes. Each of the generators can be operated individually and matched to the specific demand. The next Generation of ships will have no diesel generators at all.
